The Po landscape in the Lodi area is complex, yet distinctive and cohesive. It is distinctive because the landscape around the river differs from the rest of the Lodi area. It is cohesive because its features recur, its environment is consistent, and sustainable development can only be envisioned by looking at the territory as a whole. Water gives this land its identity and therefore becomes central to its protection, enhancement and promotion. Natural resources, biodiversity and local culture are treated as driving forces for a new rural development policy, whose values are identified and passed on to future generations.
