The intervention on the former Fiera district in Abbiategrasso has enabled the city to reclaim an important structure, renewed and endowed with great versatility. In addition to hosting the traditional fair exhibitions, the complex can accommodate concerts for approximately 500 seated spectators, as well as other indoor public events.
The programme also includes a restaurant-bar, conference rooms, temporary exhibition galleries and offices, all of which can be expanded through a large glazed volume directly connected to the outdoor spaces.
A large porous red-brick wall, punctuated by wide openings leading into the refurbished pavilions, encapsulates the entire complex. This is the element that redefines the unified identity of the Fiera and acts as an interface between the city and the new functions introduced.
